FREELANCERS #7 - 06/03/23
Hello!

Hope you enjoyed the conclusion of the little mini-arc of Kelvyra Nath's greedy shenanigans. I'll have something more upbeat and fun on the 15th.

Progress Update
Beyond a few tweaks to things like the lens flares on the text, I think the new cover for Inglorious Resurrection is pretty much done. It's evolved enough that I'll need to revisit In The Storm's cover to get it more in line with the style. I made a lot of progress since I started on my stubborn path of doing my own covers, but hopefully this one looks more professional and clicks with more people.
I have a long to-do list and I'm trying not to let it overwhelm me. I should start getting the covers done quicker when I have more of a series format to plug in and modify. Gotta balance what I hear are best practices with what makes me happy. Those two things aren't always the same, ha ha.
Beyond cover work, I felt very inspired in May to brainstorm and lay some groundwork for a new dieselpunk fantasy series. Think roughly WW1, interwar, and WW2 tech alongside mechs, magic and airships. A world war against undead abominations, vampires, corrupt orks and an evil empire on a dark crusade. Can market it as fantasy Band of Brothers.
It's something I've been toying with here and there for almost 10 years now. The sci-fi incarnation of the Aesteria galaxy my books are set in started as a more traditional medieval fantasy world a long time ago. This series, called Ascension, takes that world and jumps it forward a few centuries to the equivalent of our 1920s-40s. Might have some sketches to share in the coming months.
Book 1.5's release will probably be pushed back again to make sure everything is as good as it can be out the gate, but I should have Book 0.5 and 1 released wide by the end of June. I'm still figuring out how to set attainable deadlines for things, but the quality of the work I put out will always be top priority for me.
After Book 1.5 is released, I'll probably get to Phoenix Company Book 2, then evaluate if I want to shift to a different series for a bit or not. I'll likely have a poll or something to gauge what people are more interested in. I have no shortage of ideas, what I lack is time to get them all done how I want them.
Speaking of fun sci-fi stories, I recently discovered a TV show called Killjoys. It largely flew under the radar, but it had 5 seasons with solid reviews. Follows a small team of bounty hunters as they deal with plenty of intrigue, action and drama. It doesn't have much of a western vibe, but Firefly fans would probably enjoy it. It takes a few episodes to ramp up, but the writing and characters are shining more as it goes on.

Do you have any hidden gems of shows, books or movies you like that didn't get much buzz?
If you have any questions or comments for me, go ahead and reply to this newsletter, email me at aesteriaworld@gmail.com or message me on twitter at https://twitter.com/GCCamacho27. I'm open to feedback or suggestions on the newsletter as well.
Also, if you've read my books or others, please leave them a review on appropriate sites like distributors, Goodreads, Bookbub, etc. It makes a big difference.
Thanks very much for reading. I'll send something fun on the 15th. Have a good one.
Cheers,
