FREELANCERS #15 - 10/03/23

Hello!

Hope you enjoyed the last short story. It was a fun mini-series to write. I'll talk more in a bit about where the Spectres might be headed next. This one got a little dark, so the next will be more fun and breezy. Please check the Newsletter Archive link at the bottom of the email if you'd like to catch up on the stories.

Today, I have a progress update, a link to a Bookfunnel giveaway, and a song from a cartoon I've been watching with my daughter recently that my wife and I have been grooving to.

Progress Update

The Phoenix Company Book 1.5 manuscript is now edited and finalized! I'll be jumping into the cover art, but I'm still looking for people interested in advanced review copies. It's a sort of similar format to Last Wish in the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. So if you like that, you might be interested in Lost Souls. If you are, you can reply to this email and let me know.

The animated cover for Inglorious Resurrection is coming along nicely. Hopefully, I'll be able to share that and the Lost Souls cover next month.

I have some options regarding next steps beyond the Lost Souls release later this year. I've been contemplating writing a second series or a standalone story adjacent to Phoenix Company. Been mulling over a few options (that keep growing since brainstorming is my favourite part of the whole process), and could use some input on where to devote my energy.

I have a poll here and would love your feedback. Check it out.

My aim is to write all the things eventually, but this will help focus my efforts. Chances are, I'll test out some of these ideas in the upcoming newsletter stories

So I've been watching Teen Titans Go with my daughter. While I was surprised first by how the characters are kind of awful as heroes (I know it's supposed to be light and goofy, but it still shook me a little since my writer brain always thinks about genre things), I couldn't help but giggle at some bits.

Here's a clip with a fun song that my wife and I keep grooving to randomly. Disclaimer: Don't buy into pyramid schemes. Just shake ya booty to this jam. It's cheaper and more fun.

Let me know if there are any other funky tunes you like I should check out.

If you have any questions or comments for me, go ahead and reply to this newsletter, email me at aesteriaworld@gmail.com or message me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/GCCamacho27. Will be trying some other platforms soon. Let me know if you can recommend any.

If you've read my books or others, please leave them a review on appropriate sites like distributors, Goodreads, Bookbub, etc. It makes a big difference.

Thanks very much for reading. More fun stories coming on the 15th. Have a good one.

Cheers,

Christian
